Operation and maintenance of irrigation systems

The purpose of this course is to train the participants on concepts and applications of Operation & Maintenance of irrigation systems. The five-day course is designed for participants to implement and guide operation and maintenance of practices and stakeholders in existing and future irrigation system in the Zambezi Valley. The course includes a thorough review of existing forms of irrigation systems, both formal and informal, large and small scale. The socio-technical aspects of these irrigation systems as well as a production analysis related to irrigated agriculture will be discussed, followed by an analysis of relevant aspects of operation and maintenance of the various types of irrigation systems. All concepts will be applied on cases from Mozambique, including field visits to different types of irrigation in Angónia.
