André Marques Arsénio

André holds an MSc in Biological Engineering from Técnico Lisboa (2007). From 2009 until 2013 André worked at KWR – Watercycle Research Institute and in late 2013 was awarded his PhD from the Delft University of Technology – his thesis describes a four step approach to support the management of drinking water infrastructure. In 2016 André was awarded the Jaap van der Graaf for his article on Pipe failure predictions in drinking water systems using satellite observations.

André has been involved in the project Sustainable Water Supply for Maputo, Mozambique since February 2014 as Post-doctoral researcher, and in ZAMADZI as project manager since its inception. At the end of 2016, after almost nine years in the Netherlands, André left the country and permanently relocated to Mozambique.
